Glossary of Terms and Services Below is a list of hosting terms and services provided by AlexanderJonas.com and our partner NetNation Communications Inc. Disk
space is a measure of hard drive storage, normally measured in
megabytes (MB). Bandwidth is a measure of network resources, normally measured in megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). The POP mailbox feature is a means to store email messages so that they can be retrieved by the owner from anywhere on the internet. The
email forwarding feature allows you to automatically forward mail from
one POP mailbox to any internet email address. The email aliasing feature allows you to have multiple addresses for one POP mailbox. For
example, you could have sales@abc.com and info@abc.com and help@abc.com
as aliases to a single POP mailbox. The auto responder feature allows you to automatically send a text file reply when you receive an email. This is useful if you want to let people know that you are on vacation and will not be able to immediately reply to their email. Autoresponder
Wizard The
graphical usage statistics feature creates graphs that depict the
amount of traffic to your site, which documents are being accessed,
and who is accessing them. Click

web based control panel is a interface you can use to administer your
account online. You can configure email (POP) accounts and aliases,
change your account password, check the disk space usage, order

Flash is the standard for interactive vector graphics and animation

and extremely compact navigation interfaces, technical illustrations,
long-form animations, and other dazzling effects for their site.
Graphics and animation will anti-alias and scale based on the viewer's
screen size, providing high-quality viewing. TrueSpeech is a high quality speech compression software that compresses speech down to as much as 1/40th its original size. Networks' RealAudio and RealVideo system a client-server based
streaming media delivery system for the Internet. Providers of news,
entertainment, sports, and business content can create and deliver
audio-based streaming multimedia content through the Internet to
audiences worldwide. HTTP
streaming is an alternative approach to serving Real Audio files on
the Web. Although this technique is not well-suited for high-volume
sites serving numerous simultaneous streams, many smaller Web sites
can benefit tremendously from this simple and inexpensive approach.
This technique relies on HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) which is
already used by all Web servers to store and transmit ordinary text

The simple
configuration panel allows setting the autoresponse email either by
emailing to the autoresponder or by editing the email online. Email
attachments and string matching are also supported. To access this new
feature, login to User Services at http://userservices.netnation.com
and select the "Mail control panel" link. To create a new
autoresponder, simply enter an alias and a final recipient, and select
"New autoresponder" from the pull down list.
